A global rebound from Covid-19 combined with extraordinary demand for winter LNG cargoes, lowest EU gas storage level in five years and gas supply trouble in the US- first due to hurricane Ida and now hurricane Nicholas has pushed natural gas and LNG prices to its record high level.
Early in September, Hurricane Ida disrupted sizable feed gas supply in the US and now on Sep 14 hurricane Nicholas knocked out Freeport LNG liquefaction facility on the Texas Gulf Coast.

Steep rise in winter prices feared by Asian European importers

Delta Offshore Energy (DOE) of Vietnam receives environmental clearance for LNG fired power project

Delta Offshore Energy (DOE), a Vietnam based company has secured the environmental clearance for its 3200MW integrated LNG-fired power project to be set up in Bac Lieu province of Vietnam.
Vietnam’s Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment has approved the project’s environmental impact assessment (EIA) at the beginning of September 2021.
DOE has secured LNG supply from the Australian company LNG Ltd which will supply LNG from its Magnolia Liquefaction project, Louisiana, Texas US. The LNG fired power project has also entered into a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for 25 years with the Vietnamese government.
The construction of the project is expected to start from the fourth quarter of 2021 and the first phase of 800MW capacity is expected to start its commercial operations from early 2024.
