Torrent Power awards four cargoes at around $3.50

India’s private sector power major Torrent Power has awarded a buy tender of four cargoes, at around $3.50. Torrent Power had closed the buy tender for four cargoes to be delivered during April, June, October and December. Though the winner of the buy tender was not known, sources believe Shell could be the winner along with one or two more traders. Torrent Power continues to consume one to two LNG cargoes every month for power generation. Torrent Power has secured substantial volume of LNG through spot, mid-term and long-term deals with various suppliers. Global major Shell supplies a large volume of LNG through a mix of spot and short term contracts to Torrent Power. A dedicated gas transmission line has been laid down by Torrent power, connecting its power projects in South Gujarat and 17.5mil mt/year Dahej terminal, operated by Petronet LNG, to meet its LNG requirement for power generation.
