Italy’s Snam has received its first commercial cargo on board the tanker Ougarta on Friday. The tanker loaded cargo from the Sonatrach operated Arzew liquefaction project in Algeria to discharge 170,000cbm floating storage regasification unit (FSRU) owned by Snam and located at port Piombino.
In May, Snam received its first cargo loaded on the 174,000 cbm tanker Maran Gas Kalymnos. ENI which also has regasification capacity booked at the FSRU Golar Tundra, had brought in the first cargo to Snam owned FSRU in May.
In addition to FSRU Golar Tundra, Snam has acquired two more FSRUs. Snam purchased FSRU Golar Tundra from Golar in June 2022 for $350mil, to be located in central-northern Italy. Snam also purchased in recent months a FSRU Golar Arctic with a storage capacity of 140,000 cbm of gas, which will be installed near the port area of Portovesme, in the province of Cagliari.
Snam and BW LNG have signed an agreement for the acquisition by Snam Group of 100% of the share capital of FSRU I Limited, which upon closing will own the FSRU "BW Singapore" as its sole asset. BW Singapore, built in 2015, has a maximum storage capacity of about 170,000 cubic metres of LNG and a nominal continuous regasification capacity of about 5 billion cubic metres per year. The unit has been deployed from the outset as an FSRU but can also operate as a carrier for the transport of LNG and it is expected to be installed in the upper Adriatic Sea, close to the coast of Ravenna.
