External Description:

PRIMARY PURPOSE 

 

Provides integrated communications to build positive image of the company, generate inquiries and support business objectives.  Develops public relations strategies and tactics that enhance the brand and support the overall integrated marketing and communications strategy.  Manages the development and implementation of public relations tactics such as press releases, editorial list development, press conferences, media events, interviews, spokesperson’s list, media training, editorial/media tours, articles, press kits, newsletters, fact sheets, photo files, etc.  Develops and implements employee public relations strategies and tactics including newsletters, events, fact sheets, etc.  Integrate PR strategies with Mar/Com strategies.  Write communication materials, brochures, fact sheets, web copy, etc.  Plan and execute special events (on an as-needed basis), perform other duties as assigned.  

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides consultation, planning and implementation of public relations strategies, methods and tactics.
  • Manages outside resources as well as researches, writes, and edits all varieties of external and internal communications.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with key reporters/editors from local, trade and national media.
  • Ensure public relations communications activities coordinate with other elements of overall integrated marketing and communications plan.
  • Represents the company as media spokesperson and is capable of preparing other company representatives as spokespersons.
  • Cultivates pro-active publicity opportunities and manages media relations activities. 
  • Manages public relations tactical budgets.
  • Develops and implements crisis communications strategies and plans.
  • Works closely with integrated marketing and communications team members to optimize efficiency of strategy, message and budget.

This position must work across functions seamlessly.

 

50% - Providing daily media relations support: conducting media interviews, researching issues and drafting media talking points.

40% - Communications writing, planning and support.

05% - Special event planning.

05% - Performs other duties as assigned.

External Qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS

Education - Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing or related field and 5 years experience.

Experience 

  • Minimum 5 years of related experience in a public relations agency or commercial/industrial PR related area.
  • Preference: Equally fluent in Spanish and English (verbal and written).
  • Strong writing and editing skills; excellent oral and written communications abilities.
  • Superior planning and project management skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects against tight deadlines.
  • Strong knowledge of managing outside resources.
  • Extensive understanding of mass media methods and operations.
  • Requires creativity and ingenuity in preparing oral, written and electronic communications.
  • Ability to translate complex material into language easily understood by the targeted audience.
  • Must have previous work experience in an integrated communications team environment.
